God Will Provide a Lamb – Genesis 22:7-8; John 1:29

In a moment of test, Abraham spoke words that proved to be prophetic for the fulfillment of God’s promise in Jesus Christ.  When the Immerser came on the scene, and was preparing to “decrease” so that the Messiah could “increase,” he directed his disciples to the on who would “baptize with the Holy Spirit,” by declaring to them “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.”  God did provide a lamb, just as Abraham had said.

Have This Mind in You – Philippians 2:5 (sermon audio)

Botham Jean was shot and killed in his apartment in September of 2018. In October of 2019, his killer, Amber Guyger, was convicted of murder and sentenced to serve 10 years in prison. At the end of the trial, Jean’s younger brother spoke to Guyger, fogiving her and expressing multiple times that he loved her, despite what had happened. He concluding by asking the judge if he could give Guyger a hug, which he was permitted to do. The two embraced for a long time as her sobs were heard throughout the courtroom. This young man’s Christ-like example is one that all Christians need to take notice of as we seek to have the mind of Christ in ourselves.

The Promise of Atonement – Hebrews 9-10; Leviticus 16

Perhaps no day on the Jewish calendar was more important that the Day of Atonement.  It was a day which the book of Leviticus centers around.  And yet, it was not sufficient to fully take care of mankind’s sin problem.  That’s why Christ came, to be our sacrifice.  The Lamb of God came to take away the sin of the world.
