As Jesus gathered with his disciples mere hours before his crucifixion, he gave them instruction regarding how they should remember him in the future. He instituted the Lord’s Supper, and 2000 years later, the church still partakes of this memorial upon every first day of the week as we remember our Lord.
The Lord’s Supper, while not the only important part of our worship, is a very important aspect of our worship, and it must be treated in the proper way. It is a not a common thing. It is special, and every Christian must remember that when they partake.
Sermon from the morning service at the Orangeburg church of Christ, December 13, 2015. We need to pay careful attention to our observance of the Lord’s Supper, and be sure we are not treating that memorial as something that is casual and routine.
With Easter approaching, and many thinking more about the resurrection of Jesus, it is a good time to consider the empty tomb. What does the resurrection of Jesus mean for we who live in 2014?
